Organiser's Description
Aberdeen Santa Run 5k
Sunday 14th December 2025 - 10.30am
Join us as we welcome back the Aberdeen Santa Run 5k to Aberdeen Beach Front.
With Santa outfits provided, we will transform the prom into a festive delight for everyone to enjoy.
This is a fun run, and not a race. It is open to all, whether you run, walk or crawl. It's all about taking part, having fun, and creating a spectacle along the beach front.
We will have a finish line clock, but no official timings will be given.
The event will be family friendly, and we would love to see people of all ages, running and walking the route.
Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied (within arm's reach) throughout the event by a parent, guardian or appropriate adult of the parent's choice.
Starting from the Footdee end of the beach, the route heads north along the lower prom, past Codonas and the Beach Ballroom. It returns along the upper prom, before dropping back down to the lower prom to the finish line.
Please note there are steps from the lower prom to the upper prom at the half way point. Our marshals can assist with any buggies, etc, or you have the option of just returning by the lower prom
Every signed up participant will receive a santa suit to run or walk in, as well as a medal at the finish.
Entry is £20 for adults and £14 for under 14s.
Children under 5 are welcome to join in free, so long as they are accompanied
Donations of food will also be taken on the day for Aberdeen Cyrenians' Food Bank

Aberdeen Santa Run
You are entering after the final email has been sent out, so here are the additional details:-
Dear Aberdeen Santa Runners
We are now just days away from the Aberdeen Santa Run, taking place this Sunday, 14th December.
We can't wait to see you on the day.
Here is some information which you may find useful.
Timings
Registration 9.15-10.15am
Warm up 10.20am
Start 10.30am
Parking
Parking is available along the beach front on both sides of the road. Please do not park on the double yellow lines of the ramp entrance down to the prom, as this is required for emergency access.
Parking is also available in the Queen's Links Leisure Park, a short walk from the start. You could also park in the Beach Boulevard Retail Park, although charges apply if you stay longer than four hours.
Bus
The beach is serviced by both the number 13 and CS1 buses. Buses run regularly from Union Street, Bridge Street and Guild Street bus stations.
Please visit the First Bus website to view routes and timetables.
Cyrenians Collection
We are supporting Aberdeen Cyrenians, and would ask that each runner brings something along to donate on the day. Their van will be parked on the beach front near the start line, and donations can be left directly with them.
They are always looking for supplies of food and toiletries, and a list of the kind of things you might want to bring can be found here. Or you can make a donation here
Registration
Registration will take place within the gazebos at the Footdee end of the prom from 9.15 to 10.15am.
Registration will be grouped by surname, but if families or groups have different surnames, then you can all register together at one desk.
Any corporate or charity entries should go to the "Corporate" desk on the right.
At registration, you will be given your event wristband and your santa suit.
Santa suits come in sizes for children (up to 8 years), youths (8+ ) and adults.
We expect most people to take adult suits, but please ask for the appropriate size.
One helpful hint is that you might want to take your own belt, as the paper ones that come with the suits are not so effective at holding everything in place!!
Following registration, you can either wait around nearby, or head for a coffee somewhere. All the beach front food suppliers should be open and trading, as well as the beach front cafes, Burger King, the Range and Cineworld, etc.
Both Alice in the Highlander Bus, and Nikita at The Chilli Man have both offered discounts to Santa Runners, so let them know you're taking part (if it's not obvious!)
Bag Drop
We will have a covered gazebo at the start line, which can be used as a bag drop. We will keep this manned, however any items are left at your own risk.
Toilets
There are public toilets at the Footdee end of the beach which will be open on the morning of the run.
Warm up and Start
There will be a run brief at 10.20am on the lower prom, followed by a warm up led by Georgina Hurrel from PureGym Wellington Circle
Timing
There is no official timing for the run, but we will have a finish line clock where you can check your time. It's not a race, and there are no prizes or podiums. Enjoy the run in your own time.
Route
The run will head north along the lower prom, past Codonas and the Beach Ballroom, and both "dips". The turning point will be at the steps across from Mrs Murray's. You'll know when you are there as you'll hear our amazing pipers, Archie and Alan, signalling the turn point. Runners will climb the steps on to the upper prom. Please use both sets of stairs.
If anyone requires any assistance on the stairs, then our marshals can help (carrying buggies etc). If you are unable to use the stairs, then you are more than welcome to return on the lower prom until the routes rejoin.
Those on the upper prom will then run south past the Beach Leisure Centre, before taking the ramp at the Beach Ballroom back down to the lower prom.
The route then takes you back to the finish along the lower prom.
We will have a lead bike guiding the way, and warning pedestians.
A link to the route can be found here.
Please note we do not have exclusive use of the promenade, and there may be pedestrians, dog walkers, cyclists etc. Please be respectful, and look out for others.
Finish
You will be met at the finish by our giant santas, where you will be presented with your amazing medal, water and other goodies.
We would ask that you move on from the finish line to avoid it getting too congested.
We will have bins for any ruined santa suits, although would hope that most of you will want to take them home with you.
After the run, we will do a litter sweep along the course, but please, do not deliberately drop any litter. Be proud of your city.
Weather
We don't have control of the weather, but will do our best. As it stands, there shouldn't be any snow or ice on the route, but given the time of year, people should dress appropriately for the weather. Bear in mind you will also get a santa suit to wear on the day.
We don't have any shelter at the start line, so if it is wet, after registration you may want to nip off to somewhere under cover until the run brief at 10.20am.
First Aid
We will have a first aid tent at registration. Our marshals on the route will also carry small first aid kits if anyone requries.
Family meeting point
Our insurance requires anyone under the age of 11 to run within arm's length of an adult. If anyone is separated from their children, then there will be a family meeting point at the registration tent. Please contact any of the marshals if you have lost contact with your children.
Thanks
A big thanks to all our marshals, helpers and volunteers on the day, who are essential in making the event go so smoothly. We are really grateful to all of them - those who will have been up long before dawn setting up the start area, our registration, marshal and finish line teams, our first aiders, and our "special guests" at the turning point.
Thanks also to our event photographers, Cynthia Fry and Donald McIntosh, and our videographer, Stuart Ross of Stuart Ross Media. Photos will be available on the Aberdeen Santa Run facebook page and instagram after the event. Please follow for updates.
Thanks also to Aberdeen City Council for enabling us to hold the event along the beach front.
Entries on the Day
People can still sign up on Entrycentral, so feel free to encourage friends to join you. There will also be a limited number of sign ups on the day.
Finally
We hope you enjoy the run. Being amongst 700 other santas running along the beach front should be a lot of fun, and we are bound to get some great support from the local community.
We hope you enjoy youselves, and would be grateful of any feedback after the run. Any responses will help inform future events.
Thanks to you all for signing up, have a great run, and a very merry Christmas.
