Come and join us for this years Barbury Castle Sunset 10KM. After two previous years events, this year we are hoping to again treat you all to another wonderful evening of trail running. 

Starting at The Barbury Shooting School, Swindon, this route takes in some beautiful countryside and hopefully a perfect sunset. A relaxed trail run for everyone, with a friendly welcome assured from the Wroughton Whippets, come and join us and help raise money for Brighter Futures.

Brighter Futures is the charity for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which includes Great Western Hospital  and community health sites in Swindon.

THE ROUTE

Along tracks (The Old Ridgeway) and grass, the route involves the odd hill or two (including the Iron Age Attack at the castle) – but don’t worry, what goes up, must come down! 

The route takes you underneath Barbury Castle, up the Iron Age Attack to the castle, before going through and along the spectacular Smeathes Ridge. 

WHAT YOU GET

Your reward; a unique finishers medal, a drink at the bar and a great sense of achievement.

Toilets, First Aid and refreshments afterwards at the shooting school, and a fully marshalled course.

All profits will go directly to Brighter Futures.

There will be no "on the day entries" so please sign up in advance.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Q What time should I arrive - Please arrive for 18:00 - we have found over the past two years, registration does take a bit of time, especially if everyone arrives right up close to the start time. Whippets will be on site from 17:30 as well to help with any questions etc.

Q Can I run with my dog - Yes, as long as your dog is on a lead, and please clean up after your dog. Please be mindful of other runners and your lead.

Q Is there parking available - Yes, the Shooting School will have parking for us. But please car share if possible - that way we can maximise the entrant numbers. 

Q How hard is the route - Its a beautiful route, with one challenging hill. It will be worth it for the view at the top! 

Q Is there a bag drop - We will have a bag drop at HQ, items are left at your risk. Parking is on site and it is advised that valuables be left in your car.

Q Is the course marshalled and is there First Aid - The course is well marshalled with friendly and enthusiastic Whippets. There will be First Aid on a voluntary basis and we ask all runners to be mindful to run under their own responsibility. 

Q Are refreshments available - After the race back at HQ there will be a change to enjoy a cold drink and a BBQ. It was great to see so many faces enjoy this last year and we hope you will hang around to celebrate again this year.
