Organiser's Description
Hi, thank you for your interest in the first Builth Wells Charity Aquathlon.
This event is designed to encourage those of you who have not taken part in an aquathlon before. Though we also welcome seasoned competitors. It comprises a 400m (16 length) swim in the pool, followed by a 3k run around The Groe. The minimum age for entrants is 18 (as at 31.12.24), so you could still be 17 to take part, as long as your next birthday is before the end of the year.
We will close entries on the 4 August, or when the total number of entrants reaches 99.
You can choose any stroke for the swim and we will provide you with a swimming hat which must be worn to enable us to count your lengths. It's a microchipped event, and all finishers will receive a medal and video of you crossing the line, plus there will be trophies for the age category winners.
The event is to encourage people to take part in sport and also to raise funds and awareness for Builth Wells Cancer Research. All money raised will go towards research into finding a cure, so hopefully you'll be able to raise some sponsorship as well. If the event is successful, we're hoping it'll be an annual event, and hopefully include an event for those under 18.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Best of luck!
