Ceres 8 Road Race

6th August 2024

Under SAL/UKA Rules

Start Time: 7pm Tuesday August 6th, 2024

Age Restrictions: Runners must be 16 or older on the day of running.

The Ceres 8 is held on a scenic, undulating circular course on quiet country roads. It is a single lap course and this year it is to be run in a clockwise direction. It will start just up from the Memorial Hall and finish near the bottom of the Teases Road, up from the Fife Folk Museum car park. There is a short out and back section during the first mile.  A map of the course can be found here. There will be a Temporary Traffic Restriction Order (TTRO) in place that should ensure a traffic free environment. The Ceres 8 is run under UK Athletics rules and has a Scottish Athletics licence. It has an AUKCM course certificate ensuring that the distance is an accurately measured eight miles. A water station  will be at the approximate half way point (New Gilston turn). There is a two hour time cut off.

Momentos, numbers and prizes will be environmentally friendly, water will be provided in paper cups, both during and after the race. Containers will be available at the The Ceres Inn for reusing race numbers, safety pins and recycling after race drinks/food receptacles etc. Bring your own cup for after race refreshment/soup, and car share, or cycle to Ceres! If you have any other 'green' ideas for our race, we'd be delighted to hear them.

Registration is at The Ceres Inn from 5:30pm. The start and finish areas are both approximately 500m from The Ceres Inn. Please note that there are no showering facilities available. An area will be made available at the Ceres Inn registration area where runners can leave bags, at their own risk. There are toilets at the main village car park opposite The Ceres Inn and in the Inn itself. After the race all runners will be provided with soup and sandwiches.

Parking: At the Fife Folk Museum car park opposite the village green, and the car park behind Greene's (old Spar) shop. There is very limited parking elsewhere in the village.  Please be considerate when parking.

Prize giving: All finishing athletes will be presented with a momento of the race.  Once results have been compiled and verified, prizes will be presented at The Ceres Inn within an hour of the first person crossing the finish line.

There will be prizes for the 1st 3 men and women overall, prizes for U20, O40, O50, O60, O70 categories and 1st male and female team (3 to count).

Entry Transfer Policy: All entries are non-refundable. However, there is a free transfer service as long as there is no evidence of selling the entry on at an increased fee. With permission of the Entry Organiser you can transfer your place to a friend/relative/teammate etc, but you must handle any reimbursement of funds directly with that person. The Entry Organiser will swap the entry details as long as they are notified before the day of the event.  Changes cannot be made on the day of the race.
