Come along and join us for this year’s fundraising challenge at the Haining in Selkirk for a 5k trail run or a scenic 2k/4k fun walk accessible for all. Both will be in the stunning grounds of the Haining, taking in the beauty of the countryside and loch. The routes will be signposted and marshalled with the 5k trail run being on rough paths and the 2k/4k walk taking in some of the same route.

The Charmian Interest Link Challenge will be restricted to a maximum of 500 people. It will be a fun event celebrating the great work of Interest Link Borders and the life of the late Charmian Ledsham. It will also raise funds for the work of Interest Link, and entry to each event is £6 per runner/walker bookable through EntryCentral. All participants will receive a unique biscuit medal on completion.   Please note that the deadline for signing up to both events is 18 April 2024. On the day there will be opportunities to win amazing tombola prizes donated by local businesses. There will also be Charmian Interest Link Challenge t-shirts and hats to buy as a reminder of the day and opportunities to donate to Interest Link (which you can also do through this link)

Parking and accessible toilet facilities will be available and there will be refreshments from Three Hills Coffee. Please bring your own filled water bottles and we can then refill  for you if needed. The 5k Trail Run will start at 9.30 with the all-inclusive 2k/4k walk starting at 10:30 am on Saturday 20 April 2024. Registration will open at 08:45 am for both events so please allow yourself enough time to check in and socialise prior to the starting time of your chosen event before the starting flag drops. We will aim to finish around 12.30.

Interest Link Borders has proudly named this event in memory of Charmian Ledsham and to acknowledge her dedication, support and hard work over the years.

Charmian was involved from the start of the transformation from “Interest Link Berwickshire” to “Interest Link Borders” initially as a member of the Steering Group in 2000 and then a director for the following 20 years.  She was Vice-Convenor from 2004 - 2014 and the main representative of care providers on the Board which proved to be a great asset. Her insight, advice and wit were a vital part of Interest Link’s development, she kept her perspective throughout and knew the right way to go and always did this with a twinkle in her eye and smile on her face.

Charmian was a keen runner and enjoyed outdoor activities. Her fundamental concern was for the values that are at the heart of what Interest Link does. So what better way than this annual event to celebrate Charmian and her support of Interest Link.
