Date and Time
Sunday 5th November 2023 at 10.00am - please note the earlier start time.
The Course - please keep to your left!
A chip-timed course, which means as you cross the 'start mat' your chip timer starts and stops when you cross the finish mat. The route is a 'frying pan' in shape; you take in the first few hundred meters before turning right to travel an anti-clockwise course towards the relatively new Walton Cardiff housing development - this is a wide footpath with 3 road crossings (with bollards) that will be marshalled (please be careful here as there are kerbs and our marshals CAN NOT STOP TRAFFIC - only warn of their approaching). Just before the 2 mile mark, there is a left turn in the easterly direction. From here, there may be the odd vehicle so please stay to the left at all times. The course hops over the M5 motorway twice and this is the only time inclines are met. After 4.5 miles you'll rejoin the 'frying pan handle' with a right turn and retrace your first few hundred meters to cross the finish line - the finish is on your left.
Marshalls will be at all key sections of the course and signage will be in place, including mile markers.
Parking
Parking can be found at the school with additional parking off Shannon Way on the various business car parks and all the way down to Morrisons supermarket car park across from the start line.
Race HQ and Registration
Tewkesbury Sports Hall, Ashchurch Road, Tewkesbury GL20 8DF.
Race Start and Finish
The race will start at 10.00am at the entrance to Walton Cardiff Lane GL20 8BP. Please respect other people's space - the quicker runners will start on the start line, while the steadier runners will organise further back. As you cross the start mat, your race time will start... you will only be timed over the official 5 mile course. The finish line will be near the start - please keep to the left-hand side to ensure your chip-time records. There will be bottled water after the finish - please don't crowd around the finish or water station - we are keen to be COVID aware after the race. Please do not litter - take your bottle home.
The timing chips must be removed and dropped in the collection buckets asap after you cross the finish line. The chips are valuable and must be returned!
Bag Drop
There will be an area set-aside for baggage: simply put your race number on your bag and leave it in the baggage area. It will be supervised. Please label your bag/kit.

Beverages
Orchard Catering are back. A local caterer, operated by one of Tewkesbury clubb's former runners. They will be offering drinks, hot rolls and hot soups.
Cakes
After the race, the Sports hall with have a range of mainly homemade cakes. These are complimentary! Regardless, we will have a bucket on the table that you can make a donation at your discretion. Please respect social distancing in this area - if we are busy, then please be patient. This 'free cake' system was trialed two years and recorded a success with minimal time from seeing cake to eating cake.
