Glasgow University Aquathlon 2025

Sprint Aquathlon (including the Scottish Student Aquathlon Championships) - 750m pool swim & 7km run
Novice Aquathlon - 400m pool swim & 3.8km run

Prices:
Sprint race -  £35.00
Novice race - £17.50

Please note that for both the sprint and novice races, if you are not a British Triathlon Member, you will be required to pay a small additional fee for a race day pass.

Competitors must be 15 years or older (by 31/12/2025) to compete in the Novice event. Competitors must be 17 years or older (by 31/12/2025) to compete in the sprint event. Competitors must be able to complete 30 lengths (sprint) or 16 lengths (novice) within 30 minutes,  to allow for the event flow to be maintained.

This event is paratriathlon friendly. Please contact the race organiser so that we can try to make this event as accessible for you as possible.

The event will take place between 9am and 1pm approximately; the full order of events will be emailed to competitors nearer the time. Parking is free at the sports centre.

The swim will take place in Glasgow Club Scotstoun's 25m pool: https://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/sport/venues/glasgow-club-scotstoun

The Sprint Aquathlon run will consist of 2 laps whereas the Novice will be 1 lap. The run route will take place on pavements and is available to view here: https://www.strava.com/routes/3296148210874218170
Please note that this route is provisional and may be subject to change. The route will be sent out to all participants in the race manual before the event.

Glasgow University Triathlon Club looks forward to welcoming competitors of all abilities to Scotstoun; complete beginners, triathlon enthusiasts and elite athletes alike. The easily accessible sports centre with its range of facilities makes this a great event for anyone! If you just love a challenge or need to put that winter training program to the test, we look forward to seeing you on the day!

The race will be held in a new venue from previous years due to Bellahouston undergoing refurbishment.

This event is open to all. While we are a university club, we are delighted to host this public event and we welcome everybody. The Novice Aquathlon is aimed at athletes new to triathlon and also junior athletes.

After the event, there will be a prizegiving ceremony for overall winners and age catgeories. Prizes will be awarded in open and female categories for age groups as follows:

Sprint Race: Overall, Student, Senior (non-student) 16-39, Veteran 40-49, Supervet 50-59, Vintage 60+.
Novice Race: Overall

Bonus prize for the fastest T1 transition.

Students
We are delighted to be working together with Scotish Student Sport (SSS) to incorporate the Scottish Student Aquathlon Championships into this event. To enter the Scottish Student Aquathlon Championships, please make sure you enter the sprint event, tick the box to say you are a student and enter your university.

Our timing team on the day will be What's My Time; check them out here: www.whatsmytime.co.uk. They'll be providing a great service on the day and we look forward to working with them! Their service will allow you to follow the event online with live results.

Updates to estimated swim times are permitted until the same deadline of midnight on 23/02/2025.

Withdrawal Policy

Refunds will be issued after the event and as follows:

• Withdrawal dated 8 weeks (61 days) or more before the event = 50% credit.
• Withdrawal dated 4 weeks to 8 weeks (30 to 60 days) before event = 25% credit.
• Withdrawal dated less than 4 weeks (29 days) before event = No (0%) credit.
