Entry for the Kinloss Running Festival will be via Crash Gate 1 on the Findhorn Road (B9011).
Do not enter via the Main Gate of Kinloss Barracks.
Due to the running festival taking place within Kinloss Barracks Training Area, there are several security measures in place. Please allow sufficient time for getting through security to ensure you are not late for registration / races starting.
Please note your vehicle registration will be requested when you register for a race. This is to speed up our security process to allow you onto Kinloss Barracks Training Area. Other security measures will include:
- · A nominal roll will be taken at the Entry Point, (Crash Gate 1) to confirm race competitors and spectators.
- · Every individual aged 14 or over will require photographic ID to enter the barracks.
- · Individuals aged 13 or under do not require photographic ID, but their details will be recorded for security.
- · Your name and vehicle registration will be recorded, and you will be provided with a temporary vehicle pass to gain access.
- · Your vehicle may be subject to search upon entering MOD property.
- · Once on Kinloss Barracks Training Area, you will be directed to the parking area.

· Parking
There is ample parking located in a centralised parking area next to the Race Village. Please follow direction signs and marshals. Do not try to enter Kinloss Barracks via the Main Gate.
Please note there is a £5 charity donation parking fee per vehicle. This is payable (cash) on the day at Registration.
Whilst your vehicle is left in the parking area, it remains your own responsibility and the organisers accept no liability, for loss, damage or theft.
Health & Safety
All routes are extensively signposted and supported by marshals. The safety of all runners is paramount, and we expect runners to always follow the advice of marshals or event staff and take all reasonable precautions to remain safe.
All race competitors should come adequately prepared for their chosen event. The 1K, 5K, 10K and Half Marathon are all taking place on even, well maintained roads (concrete / tarmac). The Back Yard Ultra is a trail run, taking place on various terrain (roads, muddy trails, sand).
Please be courteous to other members of public who may be using the roads recreationally.
Whilst this event is on private land, there will still be security / safety vehicles moving around some sections of the routes. Therefore, the wearing of ‘in-ear’ earphones is strictly forbidden, in line with Scottish Athletics regulations. Bone conducting earphones MAY be used, with the event organiser’s approval. Any runner found to be using ‘in-ear’ earphones will be asked to remove them. If they do not comply, they will be asked to stop running.
Canicross, pushchairs, baby prams or buggies are not permitted on any route.
Run buggies are permitted on the 1K Fun Run.
All children in the 1K Fun Run under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
First Aid
These events can be strenuous, and the organisers cannot accept responsibility for any accidents or injuries. A first-aid post will be available at the Start / Finish area, kindly provided by Outfit Moray. There will also be a mobile First Aid unit, complete with AED. Anyone withdrawing from the race must report to the First Aid post, to ensure they are okay before leaving the event.
Please ensure your first aid details and emergency contacts are written on the reverse side of your Race Number Bib.
Kit & Valuables
There will be a bag drop tent in the race-village. However, you are responsible for your own kit and valuables, and the organisers accept no responsibility for loss of clothing or equipment. Please only bring what you require for the race. The race village is only a short walk <5 mins from the Parking Area, so please leave any valuables in a locked vehicle.
Race Village Facilities
There will be a race village, complete with registration tent, porta-loos, first aid post, bag drop area and sheltered areas with benches and tables. There will also be catering available (food van, coffee, ice-cream etc) from 0900 – 1600 on Sat 31 Aug.
Aid Stations
The Ray Hughes Half Marathon, 10K and 5K will each be supported by aid stations.
