Organiser's Description
Welcome to The Ormsary 10K
The Ormsary 10K is an event which is organised by Ormsary Social Club on the beautiful Ormsary Estate.
This 10K race is multi terrain so has a little bit of everything - tar, dirt tracks, muddy and rough ground and a few hills - up and down
There are a total of 100 spaces
Start time is 12 noon
Race registration and briefing will be at Ormsary Hall (PA31 8PE), Ormsary, by Lochgilphead, Argyll. The following timings apply
Registration 9:30 - 11:30
Briefing 11:40
Start 12:00
The race will start and finish at Ormsary Hall and take runners around a small part of the beautiful Ormsary Estate. The first 2 miles will be by tarmac road. This is a pulic single track road (B8024) and you will likely meet cars coming in both directions so please be mindful (No headphones should be worn during the race)
You will then turn off the main road, up a muddy/dirt track which will take you onto a dirt track road. This section is farily steep (Approx 500 yards). The road then levels out and the track runs along for around 2.5miles.
At around the 4.5 mark you will then get back onto a tar surface where you can enjoy a nice winding down hill.
You will then turn right onto the B8024 public single track road for the last half mile heading back towards Ormsary Hall to cross the finish line.
The course will be marshalled and have one water stop around the halfway mark
This race will be covered by first aid support - Oban Mountain Rescue
There will be prizes awarded to the first, second and third places male and female finishers.
Car Parking is available at Ormsary Hall
Toiles available at Ormsary Hall
Entry Fee
Race entries are £27 (£25 with SA discount). There will be no refunds under any circumstances
Entrants cannot transfer their number to another runner
After the race please enjoy some hot soup, sandwiches and home baking
This route includes all types of terrain from tar mac, dirt tracks, muddy and rough ground - a little bit of everything. 40% of the race will be on road where there will be traffic.
The route will be well sign posted and marshalled and expect to meet cars on part of it.
Participants should not wear headphones during the race to enable them to hear traffic, other runners and directions from marshals, especially where the course crosses roads that will be open to traffic. This is vital to the safety of runners, road users and public alike. We therefore hope that you understand the no headphones rule. Non compliance of this rule may result in disqualification.
All runners must obey any instructions from race marshals. The roads will be open to traffic and vehicles have the right away. Please ensure you give way to traffic and be aware that our marshals do not have the right to stop traffic. It is the runner's responsiblity to cross the road safely.
If during the race you need to drop out or require medical assistance please find the nearest marshal and let them know.
The Finish
You will receive your medal and can enjoy some delicious refreshments provided by Ormsary Social Club. This is free for all participants. Supporters are welcome to enjoy soup and home baking for a small donation.
Prize giving is planned for 2pm (or sooner if results are in). We don't have chip timing system so we thank you for your patience while results are assembled but we ask that you do not disturb the race timings team during the race and immediately after.
I will look to email results as soon as possible over the weekend.
