Oswestry Juniors offers cross country, athletics, and sportshall training and competition for young athletes (Year 4 to Year 12) of all abilities and draws young people from Oswestry, the surrounding area of North Shropshire and over the Welsh border. All members of the community are welcome and we pride ourselves on being a friendly and inclusive club that supports the development of each individual irrespective of background or ability.

YOU MUST BE A PAID-UP REGISTERED MEMBER TO COMPETE AS AN OSWESTRY JUNIOR.

As a club we are expected to include the URN’s of our young athletes when declaring entries for team events such the Shropshire Young Athletics League. 

Full years club membership: £18.00

England Athletics Registration fee: £23.00 (Under 10s [year 4] do not have to be registered with EA to compete)

Welsh Athletics Registration fee: £15

New members who register with either body between Jan - Mar 2027 are registered until the 31 March 2028. This ONLY applies to new members who are COMPLETELY new to athletics and have NOT EVER been registered with EA or WA before. 

All renewals must be complete by 30 June. Any previously registered athlete will not be able to compete if they have not renewed their membership and registration. 

To run an athletics and running club and to be able to participate in races and events takes a lot of help and support. There are numerous tasks/ jobs parents can undertake. Some of these are only needed occasionally (e.g. being a team manager at an athletics match) to roles that take more commitment (e.g. coaching or field /track official). Training is always provided.

When you join the club, you will be added to the UK Athletics data base either as a competitive runner (ie. registered with EA/WA) or a social runner (ie. un-registered). 

England Athletics will use your personal details to enable access to an online portal for you (called myAthletics). England Athletics will contact you to invite you to sign into and update your myAthletics portal (which, amongst other things, allows you to set and amend your privacy settings). If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with England Athletics, please contact dataprotection@englandathletics.org

Details for members registering with Welsh Athletics are passed directly onto the Welsh Athletics Membership Secretary who adds the athletes’ details directly onto the portal. Unfortunately, due to the dual affiliation of Oswestry Olympians these members are unable to access the myAthletics portal. If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with Welsh Athletics, please contact the office@welshathletics.org

Juniors Membership fees

Due to our proximity to Wales we are affiliated with both England Athletics and Welsh Athletics.

Eligibility to compete for Wales: birth, parentage or at least 3 years permanent residency.

* Please select membership only if

a) you joined as a new member between Jan - Mar 2026 and already have England or Welsh Athletics registration. This ONLY applies to new members who were completely new to athletics and had NOT EVER been registered with EA or WA before. Contact mary58@btinternet.com to check if you are not sure.

b) you wish to join the club only as a social member (you won’t be able to compete for the club in any club competitions. You will need to run as unattached/ unaffiliated if entering any open competitions) 

Family membership attracts a discount of 20% per person on the club membership fee only. The full England or Welsh Athletics registration fee applies. Each member must join individually. Type FAMILY in the family membership box to apply discount.

Parents joining their children for the first time via Entry Central must first register and create an account in their own name before adding the child as another person to their account.
