Belstoone Loop Open fell race and Devon AA Champs 

Sunday March 30th 2025

Welcome to the first race of the Dartmoor fell Series 2025- it is an senior Open race  and also the Devon AA Champs and selection race for Intercounties. We hope with good weather this will give you some inspiring views and some awsome running. We are starting not too early from outside the village stocks near the green at Belstone , so you can still enjoy the afternoon but also release the car park for afternoon walkers. The route is a nice 12.8k and 540m of climb, which is close the the intercounties challenge. 

Key timings

There are no Juniors only over 18's can compete.; Seniors start at 10:000am . Please ensure you check in on time,registration opens in the village hall ( also bag drop) at 9;20am. 

• Best Times for the course:   Not yet set - expecting around sub 70 mins? but who?
• Prizes for normal senior ags groups.
• Plus Devon County Selection - although not doing medals. 
• The run will be limited to a maximum of 100 competitors due to planning restrictions..

SW Fellrunners and Tavistock AC are pleased to stage this fell race.The event has an FRA licence, DNPA approval and the course will be marshalled, we are hope you enjoy the course which is unmarked. ( so please read the route).  We are welcoming anyone with an interest in off-road running to this new event. 

Route for seniors

The navigation should be easy ( did i just say that?) as long as you are not in cloud but even then is good runnable terrain ( mostly). From green drop to river and cross via bridge, follow an obvious path , but go left and do not follow normal ( cosdon fell race ascent) there is a mashalled checkpoint on path by standing stone towards sticklepath, from there main track to summit ( this avoids most tof the ankle wrenching tussochs). From cosdon next check point is Steeperton tor then a drop down its north side to the river and up to Oke tor then belstone tor- so some terrfic ridge running to do.

The last 400m is in a small lane into the village, please keep left until you get to village hall car park. Finish at village hall gate.

Entry For seniors

You have a choice of just the Fell series race or a small additional fee for the Devon Champs. The fee is to is to support travel for Devon AA teams to PenY Ghent on June 14th. We have tried to keep these as economic as possible. Just choose the right tab . Looking forward to see if we can build on our national success.

Kit (seniors)

Due the classification of the senior race Medium B - Kit is mandatory - so that means you will need to carry - Waterproof ( top and legs), hat, gloves, whistle, compass , map and nutritious snack. This is genuinely for your own safety - one rule for all - not kit - no run. If really severe weather wait for post email and on facebook site. Some steep descents so grippy shoes please.

Parking 
The please use Village cricket ground its only a short walk to registration and a small fee of £1 to park.
