Ayrshire Alps Sportif

14 Jun 2025

Organiser's Description

Now in its fourth year, this  charity Sportif is organised by the Rotary Club of Ayr working in partnership with Malawi Fruits.  We are offering a memorable and enjoyable cycling challenge in some of Scotland's best scenery while raising funds to support local Ayrshire charities and the international charity Malawi Fruits.

Participants have the choice of four routes: the Ayrshire Alps 80 - a very challenging 80 mile route; the Ayrshire Alps 62;  the Ayrshire Alps 48- a more modest 48 mile cycling challenge for those who would not be able to complete the longer routes in eight hours or less; and a 65 mile gravel route with 5,600 feet of climbing and 40% guaranteed off road and much of the rest virtually traffic-free. All events feature timing facilities and we ask for a donation of £40  for the charities, rather than an entry fee.  Because the proceeds go to charity, if you are able to tick the box for gift aid on the entry form then this is a great additional benefit.  Participants may choose to raise additional funds through sponsorship if they wish but this is not required.

Our routes take in some of South Ayrshire's best scenery and there are loads of great climbs - the clue is in the name, this is the Ayrshire Alps for sure! Whatever route you choose you will be sustained by great sandwiches and home baking provided by our team at the feed stations as well as bananas and health bars for that added sustenance

This event is linked with the Heymooth Sportif (www.ridingforgood.uk), the Tayside Challenge and the well-established Highland Perthshire Challenge so why not consider entering one or more of those  too! The events have the same ethos and Heymooth offers 80 mile and 46 mile routes. Highland Perthshire Challenge is based at Perth Airport and has two routes - 100 miles or 50 miles; Tayside Challenge has 81 and 46 mile routes.  Book two events at the same time and you can claim a £10 discount; book  three to get £15 ; or book all four and get £25 off the total donation!
