Organiser's Description
Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport - Online Workshop
Tuesday 11 February 2025 1800-2100
The Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport workshop is recognised by all sports governing bodies as the minimum standard for child protection training in sport and is an essential requirement for all those working with children and young people in sport.
This workshop will raise your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching.
- Explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse and recognise their potential impact on your response.
- Recognise and respond to possible signs of child abuse.
- Take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise.

What is a virtual classroom?
A virtual classroom is an online learning environment, which is interactive, and you can access it from the comfort of your own home. You can see and talk live to the course tutors, other participants, ask questions and view slides/video content. The course will be delivered in the virtual classroom in an interactive style; similar in feel to attending a face-to-face workshop. The tutors will lead you through the learning outcomes, providing information, facilitating discussions for the whole group, and managing small breakout groups.
How does it work?
Two weeks before the workshop you will be added to Brightspace, sportscotland learning hub and you will receive an email directly from Brightspace, titled 'sportscotland: Enrolment Confirmation'. This will come from d2lsupport@learninginsport.brightspace.com. Please check junk and spam folders as some email accounts filter this email out as it is auto generated.
You will also receive an email from Triathlon Scotland with joining instructions that contain a web-link that you click, which will allow you to enter the virtual classroom and enjoy the course.
To complete the online modules and workshop you will need access to a computer (desktop/laptop) or a tablet and a good internet connection; some smartphones can also connect.
On completion of the course, you will need to complete a survey on Brightspace to unlock your Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport certificate.
