Voted Triathlon Scotland's "EVENT OF THE YEAR 2017"
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Balbirnie Park this is the ninth event from the friendly and inclusive members at Glenrothes Triathlon Club. This year we are adding the option of a relay which will involve a team of 2 team people. One person completing both runs (5km and 2.5km) and one person completing the cycle (20km). it is an exciting addition and one that we hope you will enjoy taking part in.
The event will take place on Wednesday 28th June and will consist of a 5k run (2 x the 2.5k course), 20k bike (1 loop) and 2.5k run. With both runs set wholly within the park and running alongside Balbirnie Golf Course there couldn't be a more scenic and safe setting. The bike course is on road and takes in quiet country roads in the Star and Kennoway area before returning to the park. The climb up Langside quarry from Kennoway will provide a good test for those with a liking for climbing. Elsewhere the route is rolling but not too demanding. The run and cycle route will be marshalled.
With the transition located on the lawn beside Balbirnie House Hotel this is an event with a truly stunning backdrop. Thanks are due to the kind people at the hotel for all their help in making this event what it is. Please follow signs for Balbirnie House Hotel and Balbirnie Park when looking for the location.

There are no changing facilities within the park so please come prepared. The hotel have allowed their toilet facilities to once again be used and everyone is welcome to visit the lounge bar area of the hotel to celebrate the event.
If you are a Triathlon Scotland member or in the case of the relay, one of you are a Triathlon Scotland member and you received a discount on entry (number must be entered on front sign up sheet), please bring your card with you on the night as you will have to show this or pay an additional £2 levy.
The relay teams will consist of 2 team members. The first team member will complete the first run leg of 5km, the second team member will then cycle the 20km cycle route. Team member 1 will then run the second run leg of 2.5km and both of you will run across the finish line.
All competitors (including the relay teams) will receive a medal and fruit/water post race (there may be other goodies on the night)
The event will be catered by the excellent staff at the Balbirnie House Hotel. Competitors and spectators will be able to enjoy burgers and a hog roast prepared by the award winning hotel staff, all at a very reasonable price, so make sure to bring your friends and family along with you.
The event is sanctioned by Triathlon Scotland and will be run under their rules. If you are new to multi sport cycling this means no drafting is permitted on the bike. This will be fully explained at the race briefing.
