Welcome to the 2025 M3 Monikie Triathlon brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3 https://m3triclub.com/) and supported by Triathlon Scotland.
The festival will be made up of the following races, held on Saturday 19th July 2025:
- Standard- ~1500m swim, ~40Km cycle, ~10Km run
- Standard Mixed Team Relay - As above, one leg per team member
All events take part in and around the wonderful setting of Monikie Country Park which is perfect for those who wish to experience an open water swim in a beautiful rural setting, cycle on the local roads within Angus and finish with a flat run around the ponds. The events are open to athletes of all abilities.

Refund policy
Entrants wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Entry fees (minus platform fees) will be refunded as follows;
Withdrawal more than 4 weeks prior to race date: 100% refund (minus platform fees).
Withdrawal more than 2 weeks prior to race date: either if the event is sold out and there is someone on the waiting list 100% refund (minus platform fees) or if there is no one on the waiting list able to take your place 50% refund (minus platform fees).
Withdrawal less than 2 weeks prior to race date: either if the event is sold out and there is someone on the waiting list 75% refund (minus platform fees) or if there is no one on the waiting list able to take your place 25% refund (minus platform fees).
Withdrawal less than 1 week prior to race date: either if the event is sold out and there is someone on the waiting list 50% refund (minus platform fees) due to the additional admin work needed, or if there is no one on the waiting list able to take your place - no refund.
All refunds for withdrawal are at the discretion of the event organisers. You will be offered cancellation insurance as part of the sign up process, but the event organisers have no involvement in this. If you do take out insurance, we STRONGLY encourage you to look into the terms and conditions, as policies typically do not cover cancellation due to personal circumstances or preference.
We can also consider deferral to 2026 if you’d prefer.
2025 M3 Monikie Standard (Olympic) Distance Triathlon
Welcome to the 2025 M3 Monikie Standard (Olympic) Distance Triathlon at Monikie Park (Sat 19th July 2025) brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3 https://m3triclub.com/).
This is a fantastic Standard (Olympic) Triathlon for all those who wish to experience an open water swim in the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park, cycling on some of the nicest country roads in Angus, and a flat run around the scenic reservoirs at Monikie Park. The event is open to athletes of all abilities.
SWIM:
The swim is in the smaller North Pond (one of two man made reservoirs in the park), over a ~1500m course, swimming an anticlockwise 750m circuit TWICE. The swim will be a mass beach start, which is likely to be in 2-3 waves, based on estimated swim times (therefore mixed genders) to ensure water safety cover ratios. The entry point is a slightly different location to the exit, but this means that you only have an ~80m run/walk to transition, all on carpets.
Wetsuits are recommended (and may be compulsory depending on the temperature of the water).
Dependent on weather, we may alter the swim route.

CYCLE:
We've designed the cycle route to be challenging but achievable, to take you on some lovely Angus country roads, and to give you some absolutely breath taking views over Angus and the surrounding country. It's a generally rolling course, but does involve one of the well known local hills (with spectacular views), so please look at the route before signing up.
ROUTE: Exit transition and the leave Monikie Country Park via the South Gate (///commuting.ferrets.enable)
Follow B961 until Monikie Primary School Cross Roads, turning left on to Kirkton Road (///household.charmingly.shred)
Follow Kirton Road until juction with Panmure Road, turning right (///quit.hammocks.ruling).
Follow Panmure Road onto Hillhead Road, then head West to Luckyslap junction (///quit.hammocks.ruling).
Turn right on to B978. This is a MANDATORY STOP junction. Cyclists must come to a complete stop, with one foot touching the ground, and listening to marshal guidance at the junction. Anyone risking their safety, or those of other road users and competitors may be penalised or removed from the race.
Follow B978 North until juction with B9127 (signed for Inverarity/Douglastown). Turn left onto B9127, follow road through Whigstreet until junction immediately after Seggieden (///escapes.artist.optimists).
Turn left (South) on to unamed road, and follow until junction at Mid Lodge (///cello.cookery.perform).
Turn left onto Chapel Road, heading South through the hamlets of Hatton and Carrot, then up over Carrot Hill.
Once over Carrot Hill, enjoy the views, then head left (East) at junction (///permit.rumbles.glorified) towards Greenburn/Luckyslap junction (///trespass.consoled.steadily).
This is a MANDATORY STOP junction. Cyclists must come to a complete stop, with one foot touching the ground, and listen to marshal guidance at the junction. Anyone risking their safety, or those of other road users and competitors may be penalised or removed from the race.
Turn left onto B971 heading North and repeat the anti-clockwise loop over Carrot Hill to return to this junction.
When arriving back at Greenburn/Luckyslap junction (///trespass.consoled.steadily), Stop and follow the guidance of marshals (one foot on floor) before turning right onto the B971.
Continue South on B971 to junction at Luckyslap (///bucks.travel.finer), turn left onto Hillhead Road, then into Monikie Village to the bridge, turning right onto Panmure road (///fact.recorders.jumped), continue South through Monikie village (giving consideration to villagers, animals and other road users) before turning left on to B961 at Monikie Memorial Hall (///notch.pass.total).
Take care and follow the guidance of marshals at this junction, as it is downhill and off camber. Do NOT risk your safety or the safety of other participants or road users. Anyone corssing the white line when turning left may be penalised or withdrawn from the race.
Follow the B961 to the South Gate of Monikie, re-enter the park and proceed to transition, dismounting your bike before the dismount line.

RUN:
Exit transition for the run, doing 2 anti clock wise laps of the outside of both ponds (each roughly 3Km, then 2 anti clock wise laps of the South pond (each roughly 2Km), before crossing the finish line next to transition. Follow the course signs for guidance on laps.

- There is a limit of 200 Participants for the race and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis
- This is not a relay event.
- PLEASE NOTE: UNDER 18's WILL REQUIRE PARENT / GUARDIAN CONSENT AT REGISTRATION TO COMPETE IN THE EVENT DUE TO THE BIKE LEG TAKING PART ON OPEN ROADS

- Entry fee: Home Nations Member (CORE ADULT or above membership) £70.
- Entry fee: Home Nation Members (ESSENTIAL or below membership) or Non Members £70 plus race pass (£2 if <25y, £8 if >24y)
- Race Pass can be purchased from British Triathlon here https://www.britishtriathlon.org/race-pass. Entrants will not be allowed to race without Home Nation Membership or Race Pass, and these will be checked in the week before the race.
- THE TRIATHLON WILL BE UNDER THE RACE RULES OF TRIATHLON SCOTLAND
- Estimated start times : Standard (Olympic) 0900hrs, Standard (Olympic) Relay 0900hrs
- Car parking is available within the Grounds of Monikie Park - There is typically a charge of ~£3per vehicle which is payable on the day to Angus Alive, the providers of the race venue. We recommend car sharing where possible. We will also be securing offsite parking to reduce the loading on the park, this will be communicated leading up to the event - Parking on the road outside the park (Panmure Road), is strictly not permitted as this poses a risk to competitors during the event
- Medical Cover & First Aid will be provided (Tayside Mountain Rescue Tbc)
- Refreshments - There is a Café within the Grounds of Monikie Park
- Showers and toilets are within the grounds of Monikie Park
- Results: Open Category (Placed 1st to 3rd), Female Category (Placed 1st to 3rd). Age group prizes may also be awarded, depending on numbers.

Welcome to the 2025 M3 Monikie Standard (Olympic) Distance Triathlon at Monikie Park (Sat 19th July 2025) brought to you by Monifieth Triathlon Club (M3 https://m3triclub.com/).
This is a fantastic team based Standard (Olympic) Triathlon (3 per team), for all those who wish to take part in a test of endurance, and want to enjoy it with team mates or who are not quite ready to take on a whole Standard Triathlon themselves. You and your team mates will experience an open water swim in the beautiful setting of Monikie Country Park, cycle on some of the nicest country roads in Angus, and run around the scenic reservoirs at Monikie Park. The event is open to athletes of all abilities.
Format
SWIM:

Prices
A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for participants who are not a British Triathlon Home Nation member. For this event, Race Pass costs are £2.00 (plus £0.08 service charge) for participants aged 24 and under, and £8.00 (plus £0.32 service charge) otherwise.
