Welcome to the Islay Marathon 2025!

Experience the beauty of the Queen of the Hebrides while running in one of the most scenic marathons in the world! The Islay Marathon is back, and we’re excited to have you join us this year. Whether you’re running the full marathon or as part of a relay team, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Islay’s coastline, wildlife, and rural landscapes.

This marathon is run in memory of the late Menzies MacAffer a keen marathon runner and Royal Marine. All monies raised from this event will be used to support local charities and groups in aiding children to have new experiences. 

The Islay Marathon takes place on the 14th September 2025. Starting at 07:30 from Bruichladdich you will run through Bridgend, Bowmore, along the low road, into Port Ellen before heading out and back to Arbeg along the Three Distilleries path. 

You'll finish in Port Ellen where you will be rewarded with an Islay spread of sandwiches, soup and cakes!

Prize giving will take place at 14:00

There is a cut off time of 6 hours. If you do not complete it within this time you will be able to get a lift into Port Ellen in the sweeper car. 

On Saturday 13th September registration will take place in Islay High School from 16:00 - 18:00. This will also include a pasta dinner and desert for £10. 

Transport willl also be available to the start line from Port Ellen (£10) and Bowmore (£7).
