Organiser's Description
Second time taking part in Tartan Warrior in this new location and organised by Gavin. I didn't think it could get any better than last year but what an absolutely fabulous day I and my team had. Well organised, from booking your tickets, to parking, to taking part and finishing. We all took part in the 5k fun run, great obstacles, wet and muddy fun, screams of laughter, and THEE best marshals and volunteers. The most encouraging, helpful and happy bunch, you'd be hard pushed to find a more enthusiastic people. We are a team of all ages and levels of fitness, every single one of us had an absolute ball. And can I just say to anyone reading this who is thinking about OCR, Tartan Warrior is a must!! They thoroughly deserved their "small event of the year" award 2023. We all can't wait until March next year. Huge congratulations and thanks to every single person involved.

Tartan Toddlers
We will have a short course set up for parents to take kids under 5 around. This is free. Just rock up and have a go.
Please note: Kids must be accompanied (and assisted where required) at all times by parent/guardian whilst on the Tartan Toddlers course
Getting to and arrival at the venue
Use what3words: vets.played.reduce
OR address is Wheatrig Farm,Kilmaurs, KA3 2NG.
Race numbers will be given out on the day, please arrive at least 1 hour before your wave time to allow you to collect your number and warm up before you start. Please be on the start 10mins before your start time as we want to make sure you are warmed up and ready to go.
We will have a one way system in operation
Please come via the village of Kilmaurs and approach the venue from this side (most routes will naturally bring you through Kilmaurs anyway). Once you drive through the village and are about to exit the 30 mph zone you will see a Tartan Warrior sign post telling you to turn left along Standalane. Drive for three quarters of a mile along that road and you will see the farm road on your left.
Exiting the venue
The farm road is single track so please do not drive back down it otherwise you could cause a traffic jam.
Instead you will be signposted down a different farm road running parallel to the road you came up. At the bottom you will be directed left to take a slightly longer loop back to Kilmaurs. Please do not turn right as you could cause a traffic jam.
We ask all drivers to drive slowly along the nearby country roads as there could be dog walkers, horses or children walking on them
Car Parking/Charity/Key Drop
For car parking we would appreciate a small donation (recommended £5) for our car parking attandants from Stewarton Annick FC. All money raised will go towards team kit for the junior teams.
We will have designated hard surface car parking available for up to maximum of 80 cars and a small amount of field space.
With this in mind please car share as much as possible.
The parking will be very close to the start/finish line so you can leave bags in the car.
There won't be a bag drop but there will be a key drop
Facilities
Toilet facilities are available on site in the form of portaloos. There will be no showers available so please bring a towel and change of clothes and be prepared to change at your vehicles. Food and Refreshments will also be available on site.
Race Capacity
We want to be sure we can deliver a quality race for you, that runs as smoothly as possible.
With this in mind will we be limiting entries to 400 people (50-60 in each wave) - if we feel nearer the time that can accomadate more cars and therefore offer more places then we will open these up.
Please book early to avoid missing out
Also whilst we would love to have everyone stay all day, we would ask if possible, that you limit your time at the venue to a maximum of 2.5 hours to help free up parking for people arriving for later waves. This should still give you plenty of time to race and get some food/drink afterwards. Please only arrive 1 hour before your wave start time.
By entering, you agree to the following conditions
- All participants must wear appropriate clothing and footwear (strictly no football boots or spikes). It is also important to bring a change of clothing and footwear for after the event as you do get wet and muddy. There are no shower facilities.
2. Participants take part at entirely their own risk and the organisers will not be liable for any injury before, during or after the event.
3. Participants under the age of 16 cannot enter without parent/guardian's permission.
4. Entry Fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another race date.
5. There will be a £5 fee for entry transfers to another person.
6. By entering, participants declare that they are physically fit and have sufficiently trained for this event and waive and renounce any rights and claims for damages they may have against Tartan Warrior (trading as OCR Ayrshire Ltd).
7. Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by a participating adult when running. 1 participating adult can accompany up to a maximum of 3 children under 10.
8. Adverse weather conditions on the day may cause the race to be rescheduled.
9. Photographs and filming will be done at this event and by entering you consent to this and their use by Tartan Warrior and their partners.
*Tartan Warrior will only share your details with British Obstacle Sports for the purposes of automatic team selection and will not pass on to any third party.
