The Sudbury Triathlon

On Sunday 16th June 2024 TRISudbury will be hosting an Adult Sprint Triathlon.

Whether you are new to triathlon, or keen to lock down a sprint triathlon PB, this is the triathlon for you.  The Sudbury Triathlon is fast developing a reputation as one of the most competitive yet inclusive and family-friendly events in the region. 

We are very proud of the fact that the Sudbury Triathlon is recognised as a British Triathlon East Region Adult League event in 2024, attracting competitors from right across East Anglia and beyond.  While many in the field were hotly contesting league points, the safe and secure environment in which the events are run also make it an ideal first time triathlon for those wishing to dip their toe in the water, or a great social event for teams wishing to compete as a relay team.

All finishers  over the age 15 years will receive a medal and tech t-shirt, which is included in the entry fee (please note that entry after 15th May may not guarantee you will get your requested T-shirt as numbers need to be pre-ordered so spares may not be available)

Junior ( Age 15-19 years)Sprint Triathlon - 400m Swim - 23km Bike - 5km Run and will run along side the adult event

Junior Sprint Triathlon (Age 8-14 years) will be a pool swim, off road bike and off road run based on the BTF distances for the relevant age group below:

For Adults and those over 15 years the 400m swim leg takes part in the open-air pool at the Great Cornard Sports Centre and is followed by an undulating 23km bike route through the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

Competitors then partake in a 5km run, slightly improved route from previous years, staged mainly off-road though the stunning scenery of Great Cornard Country Park, before finishing in front of cheering crowds on the finish line.

For Juniors aged 8-14 the swim will be in the open-air pool at the Great Cornard Sports Centre with the bike and run routes being of the grass sports fields behing Great Cornard Sports Centre.

Please be aware that the Sudbury Triathlon is run under British Triathlon Competition Rules, a copy of which is available online British Triathlon Competition Rules, please take the time to read through.

All triathletes that cross the finish line will receive a medal for the event and there will be trophies for all age category winners.

●      Minimum competitor age is 15 as of 31st December 2024.

●      The age categories will be based on age on 31st December 2024 and split by:

●      19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ (M and F).

●      There will also be trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed male, female, and relay team.

You will receive more detailed information regarding start times and event instructions via e-mail nearer the event date however, as a guide;

●      Registration and transition will open at 06:15am

●      Registration and transition will close at 07:20am

●      Race briefing will be at 07:30am

●      The first swimmer will start at 08:00am

Entry Pricing: Adult Triathlon:

●      Standard Individual Entry: £48 for BTF Members.

●      Standard Relay Team: £65 if all BTF Members.

Non BTF Members must purchase a ‘day licence’ at an additional cost of £8 per person
